LIVING ROOM DANCES
The day 47 was elected as president of the USA, we were working in the Carriage House Studio in Newburgh. We were in disbelief. We were (AND STILL ARE) horrified. At that moment we were working to include new practices within our own repertoire, having many questions about long- durational practices in performance art and how they could translate to dance and theatre. However at that moment, we realized that we must do it NOW. We can no longer depend on art institutions, dance venues, grants or galleries. Then the realization came that if it has to be NOW and HERE so why can’t we perform in my living room? Do we need a venue? Do we really need a stage? Who are we making work for anyway?
